Why Use Hardwood Flooring
When you’re ready for hardwood flooring in your own home, it’s definitely an exciting time. Odds are you already know something about the material, but if you don’t, we’d like to add to your knowledge base. All wood floors offer an amazing sophistication that no other material can rival, adding unsurpassed elegance to any space. At the same time, it’s durable, hard-wearing, and features one of the longest lifespans in flooring. It easily adds great value to your home, with little to no chance of depreciating over time.
There are a lot of things that come to mind when hardwood flooring is mentioned. We can automatically see that timeless elegance in our mind’s eye, most likely in our own favourite stain colour and finish type. We also think about what a long lifespan it has and how incredibly durable they are. With benefits like these, you have to wonder why you would choose anything else.
Hardwood flooring is the industry’s benchmark for performance, durability, and timeless style. Your Floor Installer carries expertly crafted exotic and domestic hardwood flooring products to meet the design needs and installation applications of any project. Hardwood flooring is a natural, eco-friendly flooring option that’s easy to maintain and creates a warm and inviting ambience in any room. It also promotes a healthy environment by minimizing the effects of dust and other allergens.
Prefinished hardwood is pre-sanded, stained and finished with factory-applied protection in a controlled and ideal environment. This means it’s installation-ready, with none of the harmful and offensive odours from jobsite finished wood products, and it’s safe and clean so your pets and family can use the space as soon as the installation is complete.
Choosing the right hardwood product can help increase the value of your home and, with proper care and maintenance, hardwood flooring will enhance the look and feel of your rooms for a lifetime. Whether you’re shopping for your bedrooms or your basement, from solid hardwood to engineered, Your Floor Installer has your hardwood project covered.
Engineered hardwood flooring is real hardwood with a plywood base, which makes it a versatile alternative to solid hardwood flooring.
These products are made of several layers (plies) of genuine wood that are fused together under heat and pressure. The layers are designed and constructed to dramatically reduce hardwood’s natural tendencies to expand and contract with the normal changes in moisture and humidity that occur within any installation space.
Engineered hardwood offers a range of installation options. It is fully warranted for installation on, above, or below grade level (the ground level outside the home) and even over radiant floor heating systems. These products can be nailed down to an appropriate sub-floor, glued down to concrete, or “floated” (an installation method where the floorboards are attached to each other, not the sub-floor). This means you can enjoy all of the benefits of genuine hardwood flooring in any room of any home!
From your finished basement to your penthouse apartment, engineered hardwood gives you the warmth and value of a natural hardwood product without sacrificing any of the looks, textures, or features of genuine luxury hardwood or the warranties you need to protect your investment.
Solid hardwood flooring features unique genuine hardwood flooring planks crafted from single pieces of solid lumber. Each plank, like the trees they came from, is one of a kind.
Because it’s solid wood, this type of flooring has a natural susceptibility to expansion and contraction from normal changes in moisture and humidity, so the installation applications for solid hardwood flooring products are more limited than engineered hardwood. Solid hardwood can only be nailed down to an appropriate sub-floor, and only on or above grade level (the ground level outside the home).
Each species of solid hardwood offers different grain patterns, textures, and wear characteristics. With prefinished gloss options ranging from a “matte” (satin) finish, to shiny high gloss, and color stains to complement room décor from classic to modern.
How Hardwood & Engineered
Floors Are Installed
Floating hardwood floors glued-down hardwood floors and nailed-down hardwood floors. Each type has its pros and cons. When installing floating floors, creaking in some places will be a future problem. Installation of floating floors is always an order of magnitude lower than glued-down and nail-down floors.
Glued-down hardwood floors are a very popular type of installation. Can be installed on both cement floors and wood floors. The main problem of many companies is “sloppiness during work” (the used glue is very often left on the floors and then it is very difficult to remove it). Our Team always uses the correct cleaning agents during work, while the glue has not dried, which allows us to present work without any flaws.
Nailed-down hardwood floors can only be installed on a rustic subfloor since the installation uses construction clips and nails, which are not suitable for installation on cement floors. Note (Important to know): Wood floors are very delicate and soft material. Wooden floors are easy enough to scratch, they are very afraid of water and moisture! Pay attention to this and always ask when you “aren’t sure of” something. Better safe than sorry.
